An annual celebration rings in the new year early for kids

Each year, Washington, D.C. locals ring in each New Year at the annual Noon Yards Eve event. This family-friendly event has activities for children of all ages, featuring train rides, inflatable moon bounces, face painting, glitter tattoos, music, magicians, and more.

An annual ball-oon drop at noon

Transforming The Yards into an interactive celebratory wonderland, complete with activities for children and adults, guests look forward to celebrating Noon Yards Eve all year long. Families enjoy train rides through the park, multiple inflatable moon bounces, boardwalk carnival games, face painting, glitter tattoos, seasonal crafts, music, magicians, and more. The festivities culminate in a much-anticipated countdown to a signature balloon drop at the stroke of noon on New Year’s Eve. Following the balloon drop, guests enjoy lunch at one of over a dozen kid-friendly restaurants within walking distance from The Yards. It’s no wonder The Yards was named as one of the ‘Coolest Neighborhoods in America’ by Money Magazine.

Adapting to a changing world

In 2020, to comply with COVID protocol, The Yards produced a virtual celebration that kids and adults enjoyed from home. Guests tuned in at 11 a.m. on New Year’s Eve for a virtual party featuring a special performances by multiple entertainers, family-friendly concert, and more ending in a countdown to their very own balloon drop at noon. Free, family-friendly Noon Yards Celebration Kits were available by reservation with everything guests needed to party at home.
