About the work

Tal utilizes digital photographs of commonplace street scenes and neutral urban architectural elements as source material to consider the relationship between capitalism, idealized images of the modern city, and the citizen/subject. This “pixelated” painting is part of a larger body of work of examining Elephant Park, an urban development project in South London where the artist lives. Its colorful grid is an excerpted enlargement from a prior series of miniature paintings of abstracted images of London buses.
