About the work

Julian Göthe’s large-scale wall installations examine spatial hierarchies, exhibition and artwork hanging conventions of the last two centuries, as well as the reaction to the classicist austerity of 19th century architecture. Deploying trompe-l’oeil to great effect, Göthe renders expansive and illusory vistas of infrastructure and interior architecture out of black rope and metal.
