For several years, the street pianos project has been an annual event that engages local artists to re-skin pianos as an activation for the community to watch and upon its completion, available for all in the community to enjoy and play.
Brookfield Properties is proud to have partnered with First Nations artist Jilalga Murray from Jilalga Designs, as she brings to life her specially designed street piano My ‘Pilyparra – Dry Country.
"My ‘Pilyparra – Dry Country Street Piano is inspired by the rugged ancient beauty of the Pilbara, and celebrates the resilience and strength of Marrngu (Pilbara Aboriginal people) throughout time. I’m bringing the Pilbara colours and spirit to the city via my own unique contemporary Aboriginal painting style. I hope that when people think of the Pilbara they may consider it’s true history, pay respect to the traditional owners and the Land where Law and culture is practiced.” says Jilalga Murray.
