Rock Monk Orchestra at Citypoint

The ‘Rock Monk Orchestra’, designed by ENESS, and commissioned by Brookfield Properties brings playful stillness and deep resonance to Citypoint. This gathering of serene, stone monk figures, arranged in a Zen-like formation, invites visitors to pause, listen and interact.

Gentle chants and haunting tones draw people into the circle, where pebble-shaped seating lets them sit among the rocks and become part of the rhythm. Each figure features expressive digital eyes, internal speakers and soft lighting after dark.

Interactivity is key: buttons embedded in the sculptures allow visitors to engage with the monks. The installation sits on a bed of loose pebbles, held within a timber skirt for a tactile, contained setting.

ORB at Principal Place

Originally commissioned and exhibited in Egypt in 2022, ‘ORB’ by Spanish artist SpY now finds a striking new context in London, reimagined for the urban setting of Principal Place Plaza in Shoreditch.

Inspired by ancient Egyptian heritage, ORB draws on the mathematical symbolism of the Pyramids. Its spherical form subtly references π - linking a pyramid’s perimeter and height to an invisible sphere hidden within.

With a fragmented, mirrored surface, ORB reflects the world around it - sky, architecture, passersby, and the daily rhythm of Shoreditch. It captures both the industrial textures of the city and a festive, luminous quality, like a glowing bonbon nestled in the heart of the plaza.
