Exhibition

The exhibition shifts focus away from craft as finished, static objects, instead presenting it as something engaged with the body-worn, touched, and transformed through movement and time. Installed across 30 Fenchurch, the works have unique relationships with action and experience: some act as material remnants of gesture and movement, while others invite interaction through direct bodily engagement. Featuring artists including Pierre Degen & Rosalind Perry, Caroline Broadhead, Shawanda Corbett, Kate Owens, Esna Su, Moses Quiquine, Omeima Mudawi-Rowlings MBE, and Onome Otite, the exhibition explores two key themes: Storytelling Through Performance and Limits of the Human Body. Presented in dialogue with (Extra)ordinary, Darcey Fleming’s solo exhibition at 99 Bishopsgate, Material Acts also reflects on the relationship between making and physical endurance, with Fleming’s multidisciplinary work - spanning sculpture, performance, photography, and wearable pieces - sharing a focus on the body in motion and connecting to the performative and embodied practices on display.

To access the exhibition spaces, you will need to check in at reception and present a valid form of identification.
