Almond Zigmund - Plane Style: Bustle and Flow

This large-scale vinyl artwork by Almond Zigmund is a celebration of the return to social space. Movement, color, and pattern play together creating spatial fields that dance down the concourse of One New York Plaza, adding a rhythm, a beat, an ebb, and a flow that accompanies passersby.

A return to social space cues the re-emergence of getting dressed. Large blocks of color and pattern are populated along the way by collaged figures, swathed in bright, striking attire, which announces their arrival in the space and signals a celebratory parade down the corridor.

New York artist Almond Zigmund earned her BFA from the Parsons School of Design in New York and her MFA from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. In her site-specific work, Zigmund deploys a palette and an array of patterns to heighten our awareness of space. She creates installations with nonutilitarian, nonrepresentational objects that bring together the disciplines of painting, sculpture, and design.
