Liven up your lunch hour with performances featuring talented musicians from around the globe, every Thursday in August.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Sonny Singh's music is simultaneously spiritual and rebellious, a reminder that hope, love, and devotion are crucial to our struggles and collective survival. Sonny has brought his fiery trumpet playing and vocals to audiences around the world as an original member of the bhangra brass band Red Baraat. In 2020, he launched a new project of boundary-defying Punjabi anthems to uplift and ignite.

Artist-composer, lyricist and educator Firas Zreik has performed and recorded across the world as a leader and highly sought collaborator. A sonic revolutionary, the Palestine-born New Yorker has transformed global perception of the Kanun, a Middle Eastern string instrument.

John Ellis is one of New York’s premiere tenor saxophonists. With more than 150 album credits as a bandleader and sideman, John has recorded with a wide variety of artists, from Robert Glasper to Sting and studied with renowned jazz family patriarch Ellis Marsalis.

Latin Grammy nominee Diana Burco is a singer-songwriter and accordionist from the explosive and multidimensional Colombian music scene. Her profound cultural fluidity and far-reaching contemporary explorations, mark Burco as a 21st-century minstrel charting an original path rooted in her country's rich heritage.

Mafer Bandola plays the bandola llanera, a rare stringed instrument from her native country of Venezuela. Historically played by men, Mafer brings her instrument on a new artistic path with the stories and voices of women through composition, performance, and improvisation.
