2 London Wall Place
March 18, 2022 - April 21, 2022
For World Poetry Day (March 21), Brookfield Properties collaborated with The Thirsty Poet, to create a poem, titled No Longer Groundhog Day, that inspires one to re-imagine and re-explore the City of London. From hidden pubs, to Roman-built walls, London raises the bar on spots to explore more!
Practiced throughout history – in every culture and on every continent – poetry speaks to our common humanity and our shared values, transforming the simplest of poems into a powerful catalyst for dialogue and peace.
No longer Groundhog Day
The Commute, The 9to5
Same stuff different day,
The mundane.
with
Thousands of Heads down.
On the Weekly round and round
the daily grinds been ground,
back and forth
Commuting across town,
another ground hog day
But what happens if you look around and
Change the eye line,
Of an ever changing skyline
tube lines are tube ride,
Past stories of high-rise
Switching your life lens.
To Refocus and
Readjust the aperture to capture
The forgotten,
Hidden Stories
And mysteries
A lifetime of histories.
This city is
the place for me.
Built with landmarks
Landscapes
Buildings surrounding that skyscrape.
See this city
Mixes contemporary
ancient to post war,
Raises the bar
On spots to explore more.
Like a city centre Roman built wall
Nestling the days of old
With new age opposed.
Winding highlines
realms through space and timelines
at arms reach with a change of an eyeline.
So Look up. Look out.
Have a new outlook.
Your vision will become clearer
The Visibility of
This city has more than you see if you go nearer.
Step off and explore.
Reimagine the mundane
morning commute.
