As consumers become increasingly health-conscious, fitness centers are playing a more central role in their daily lives. Due to the rapid growth of the $30 billion health and fitness industry and the growing interest in pursuing healthy lifestyles, Brookfield Properties has incorporated fitness and wellness concepts into its redevelopment strategy. As more fitness options are added to our properties, our shopping centers are transforming into lifestyle destinations which offer shoppers more than traditional retail, and appeal to their health and wellness requirements.
Brookfield Properties partnered with Peloton, an ecommerce-based brand reinventing fitness with its indoor-cycling concept, to create several kiosks at our retail centers. At these Peloton showrooms, local shoppers are able to take a test ride on the bike and speak with associates who can answer all brand related questions and help place pre-orders.
The Peloton kiosks give the brand flexibility in entering the retail space and testing new markets, and have introduced them to new consumers who share in Peloton's values of fitness, empowerment and community.
Peloton kiosks, micro-stores, and inline spaces are now available at 9 of our properties, including Natick Mall, Park Meadows, The Streets at Southpoint, Kenwood Towne Centre, The Woodlands Mall, and Oakbrook Center. The brand is growing within our portfolio, with four new stores projected to open in 2019.
We are thrilled to be introducing fresh ideas and experiences to local communities and are excited to continue bringing new fitness centers and retailers to our shopping centers.
With properties situated in some of the most highly trafficked areas of the United States, we offer the ideal fitness space for your leasing needs, including the best spaces for your fitness and wellness centers that can introduce you to our health-conscious consumers.
