“Work” and “exciting” don't have to be oppositional. At Brookfield Properties, the amenities we deliver are just as exceptional as the places we create.
We are focused on creating livable and inclusive spaces designed to engage society and residents in the near- and long-term.
We are committed to creating vibrant and engaged communities through asset, tenant and retail experiences. Our placemaking activations bring to life our pillars of engagement which maximise the cultural and economic value of every project we undertake. By presenting a calendar of events which support wellbeing, arts and culture, diversity, sustainability and the communities which we operate, our placemaking activities enliven our spaces and support our people.
Our landmark locations create a sense of place that augment the traditional work, retail and living environments. Today more than ever it is critical to create environments that are vibrant, engaging and make it easy for people to come together and enjoy their community. We know this, which is why Arts Brookfield works to connect communities through art. And why our retail and multifamily teams focus on tenant and resident programming. These privately funded programs enlivens public spaces at our properties with free, high-quality, year-round events that bring vitality and a sense of community.

We approach each one of our developments with livability and placemaking in mind. We are dedicated to creating spaces that are inclusive, sustainable, and improve the quality of life and wellbeing of all citizens of the community.
Placemaking is an essential component of developing a livable community. It is ingrained in who we are and in the iconic and dynamic destinations we craft. With trends and preferences constantly changing, it is vital that we continue to create places people are naturally drawn to through activities, stimulation, excitement, and the unexpected. Making a special place requires “peoplescaping” or creating a moment in which people want to be. This necessitates a combination of excitement, sanctuary, and evolution, while weaving in the adjoining community and surroundings to create a depth of layered experiences. Our expertise and passion enable us to do this and create lasting places that are special for all.
Creating a truly impactful community requires more than a strong physical foundation; it requires a vibrancy that comes from people engaging, connecting, and having a sense of purpose and belonging. This vibrancy can be seen in our Kissing Tree residential community in San Marcos, Texas, a 55+ active adult destination at the edge of the Texas Hill Country.
Within the community we are incorporating a number of enlivening events to promote interaction and engagement year-round. Community members can connect at weekly gatherings like Tuesday trail hiking and Friday pickleball, or at special events like “An Evening under the Stars” farm-to-table dinner. With community events such as these daily, there is almost endless opportunity for residents to connect and enjoy life to the fullest.
Innovative and connective community design does not stop there. At Chappelle Gardens in Edmonton, Alberta and Auburn Bay in Calgary, Alberta outdoor amenities are not season dependent. A splash area that keeps the community cool during warm summers is transformed into a leisure skating rink in the winter while basketball courts are turned in to hockey rinks. Adapting our amenities is our creative solution to connecting people and communities year-round.
