Ecocity World Summit

Brookfield Properties is a lead sponsor of the 2023 Ecocity World Summit which is the pioneering and longest-running global conference on ecology and cities. First held in 1990 and now running every two years, it brings together urban stakeholders from across the globe to focus on key actions cities and citizens can take to rebuild our human habitat in balance with living systems.

In 2023, the Ecocity World Summit arrives in London. Across three days, representatives from across the community are coming together to formulate and implement plans for the future of our cities. This summit will focus on positive change and progress for cities and those who inhabit them.

As part of the event, Brookfield Properties have created a central workstation at the Ecocity World Summit which has been designed in partnership with Foster + Partners to showcase the possibilities of future sustainable workplaces.

As an area for summit delegates to work or simply relax, the workspace will have seating areas with integrated full-size trees, laptop charging stations, a range of desking ideas and information about the new Design of the Workplace report commissioned by Brookfield Properties looking at the importance of thoughtful, sustainable workplace design to build communities and enhance working culture, particularly through the lens of Gen Z, as well as wider topical issues around sustainable development.

Key messages from the report are expected to look at how employees’ show a clear preference for companies that take green issues seriously, from office design to supply chains and how to attract the best candidates, both property developers and employers need to be listening to the voices of the next generation of office workers to ensure they apply themselves on these matters.

There will also be a guided tour of Principal Place in Shoreditch as part of the Summit’s programme. This BREEAM Excellent and ActiveScore Platinum Certified 630,000 sq ft mixed-use development was developed by Brookfield Properties and designed by Foster & Partners. The 15-storey office building provides Grade A office space as well as restaurants, bars and retail space, and the team will discuss the process of developing high-quality sustainable architecture and community placemaking.
