Patterns of Thought is a new series of three-dimensional wall sculptures by New York-based multidisciplinary artist, Wendy Letven, commissioned by Arts Brookfield for Brookfield Place. Each of the five colorful sculptures in the exhibition are a poetic representation of a different function or varying state of the human mind, translated through the language of pattern. Letven amasses a growing vocabulary of forms to create dynamic, complex works of art, suspended in space. The sculptures take the abstract components of language and thought and translate them into a physical, tangible form, to speak to our growing collective consciousness of the complexity and rhythms of contemporary life. Although Letven’s work is comprised of repeating patterns of signs and symbols that are familiar and universal on their own, the artwork invites viewers to develop new interpretations of each composition.
