Partner to Empower, a program that provides financial resources and retail expertise to minority business owners looking to open a retail store at one of our properties, has expanded across the country this year since launching in the Southwest in 2021. We are proud to have worked with more than 120 businesses in our Partner to Empower Retail Workshop and now have more than 40 stores either open or under construction as a part of the program.
With only 18.3 percent of U.S. businesses currently minority owned, we continue our focus on education and equity in the retail industry, as well as our mission to bring more diversity to our shopping centers.
