The concept store will explore the future of retail through multi-sport experiences.
A new DICK’s House of Sport concept store has opened at Ridgedale Center in the Twin Cities. More than 200 customers stood in line for the June 3-5 grand opening, which featured appearances from Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Twins retired catcher Joe Mauer, and professional hockey player Dani Cameranesi.
Located in a former Sears box, the nearly 107,000 square-foot store is the third House of Sport location for DICK’S, and the only location featuring a hockey pro shop, which offers skate sharpening, repair services, and more. Interactive attractions include a rock climbing wall, three golf simulator bays, a putting green, and a baseball batting cage.
Outside, a 20,000 square-foot turf field and running track, currently under construction, will host open play, fitness and sports clinics, and practices for athletes of all ages. In the winter, the field will be converted to an ice-skating rink offering open skating, lessons, and games.
The new store and field complement Ridgedale Commons, a new $8.5 million, two-acre, city-funded public park that will connect to Ridgedale Center. Programming at the park will include farmers markets, outdoor movies, and other events. Park visitors will also be able to take advantage of DICK'S House of Sport classes, wellness offerings, and expert advice to help athletes reach the top of their game.
